Catholic Cemeteries + Crematoria (CCC) was pleased to attend the Sydney Catholic Business Network Luncheon on Friday, 28 August 2026, joining members of Sydney’s Catholic business community for an afternoon of connection, reflection and shared purpose at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney.
The luncheon provided an opportunity to connect with colleagues and members of the wider Catholic community, while reflecting on the importance of compassion, service and leadership in our work.
The event began with an opening prayer led by Bishop Emeritus Terry Brady, setting a thoughtful and reflective tone for the gathering. Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP, Archbishop of Sydney, also addressed guests and expressed his gratitude for the extraordinary humanitarian work of guest speaker Moira Kelly AO, founder of Children First Foundation (Australia) and the Moira Kelly Creating Hope Foundation.
The program centred on Moira and the theme “Radical Compassion: How one person changed countless lives.” In a moving and inspiring interview, Moira drew on a lifetime dedicated to helping children with serious and complex medical conditions access life-changing care, sharing her experiences with warmth, humour and insight.
Among these was the remarkable story of conjoined twins Trishna and Krishna, whom Moira brought to Australia from Bangladesh as infants to receive specialist medical treatment. Following their successful separation, the twins remained in Australia under Moira’s care. Years later, when Krishna experienced kidney failure, Moira once again demonstrated her extraordinary commitment by donating one of her own kidneys to her. In a wonderful surprise for guests, Krishna was in the audience and graciously took the time to meet with attendees.
Moira also shared the story of Dennis, a critically ill young boy she met during her humanitarian work in Albania. She arranged for him to travel to Australia to receive urgent medical treatment and supported him throughout his recovery, later reconnecting with him as a healthy adult.
Moira concluded by responding to questions from the audience, further reflecting her deep Catholic faith and the values of compassion and service that underpin her charitable work.
